Brad Goldstein was born and raised in the northern suburbs of Chicago. At age 6, he was diagnosed as having a brain tumor on the right side of his brain stem. He went to New York University Hospital to remove the tumor with laser surgery. The rest was removed with radiation therapy. As a result of the tumor and radiation Brad was left with a week left hand and week left leg. He was also left with learning difficulties and developmental problems. The doctors told his parents that Brad would have to be in special education for his entire schooling and would never be able to enter college.
At age 14 Brad was released from the special education program at his school and at 18 he was admitted to Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. He studied graphic design and after a year transferred to Columbia College Chicago where he changed his major to interactive multimedia with a concentration in animation and graphics for the web.
After he graduated he moved to South Florida. A year later he suffered a stroke at age 25. The stroke did damage to the right side of his body as well as his speech. Doctors believe the stroke was caused by radiation poisoning that built up from when the tumor was removed.
After almost 2 years of rehabilitation therapy Brad was ready and able to work again. Through a contact at vocational rehab, Brad met Carl Hoffman who asked Brad to come work for him. Today Brad works part time for the AAPD as the designer for this website.
